Responsibilities

Integrate machine vision systems, barcode reader, robotic vision and equipment monitoring systems into manufacturing line

Manage vendor vision systems and adapt the systems to vehicle infrastructure

Lead vision systems updates, upgrades and replacements on all equipment in the cell organization

Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits for all future systems

Train and equip Sustaining Team to support vision systems after deployment into production
Expertise:
- Common vision platforms: Cognex, Keyence, SICK, Fanuc, KUKA, Halcon, Matrox, OpenCV, etc.

Vision systems hardware: cameras, displacement sensors, frame grabbers, lightning, lenses, etc.

Programming vision systems applications using common programming languages such as VB, C++, C#, Python

Network infrastructure and industrial protocols like EtherCAT, Profinet and TPC/IP
-
Debugging and troubleshooting visions system deployments to maximize throughput and uptime

Commissioning vision cameras for 2D/3D part inspection, robot automation, and process control

Developing controls specifications and standards; facilitating vendor conformance to standards; and evaluating vendor proposals

Establishing vision systems test plans
Minimum Requirements

Proficiency with vision systems, both theory and practical applications
-
Advanced vision systems deployment and maintenance skills
-
Able to use common hand tools and diagnostic instruments
-
Familiar with communication protocols like EtherCAT, Profinet and TCP/IP
-
Very good written and spoken English skills
-
Multi-tasking ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
-
Able to work under pressure in the presence of stakeholders
-
Willing to work nights and weekends when determined by project needs

Degree as Bachelor / Master / Dipl.-Ing. in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability

At least 5+ years of relevant professional experience with vision systems and automation
Nice to Have

Exposure to a wide variety of production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment (LVDT and pressure transducers, dispense systems, temperature controllers, current and power meters, etc.)

Exposure to programming Industrial PC, PLC and motor controllers

Robotic cell design and installation

Process knowledge in the field of cell manufacturing
