Senior Chemical Commodity Manager

Top Gun staffing has partnered with an outstanding client in the Troy, MI area to bring on a top notch Senior Chemical Commodity Manager. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing tools, along with VA/VE and cost analysis knowledge.

This position requires the candidate to take honesty and integrity very seriously, along with being able to collaborate with all levels of the organization. If you are someone who has evaluated suppliers, provided strategic approaches to staying on target, and can provide continuous improvement ideas to reduce cost and remain efficient, then this position is for you!

Basic responsibilities:

  • Stay up to date with the current market with suppliers, technology, and processes

  • Ensuring targets for Costs (purchasing and productivity indexes), Cash (PT&C), Quality (PPM and incidents) and Delivery budgets are met for their commodity

  • Ability to develop and implement special projects related to cash and squeeze improvements relating to OEM directed components

  • Lead the development and implementation of Quality, Cost, and Delivery Improvement programs

  • Negotiate existing contracts and develop new contracts

  • Conduct negotiations for commodities responsible

  • Effectively use Lean Manufacturing tools

Knowledge/Skills desired:

  • Effective and efficient project management skills

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Knowledge of plastics raw material, chemicals, metals, packing, and tooling equipment

  • Lean Manufacturing

  • Ability to stay on target

  • Immense knowledge of molded plastic products (including processes and parts)

  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office

Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree within Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Finance

  • Min. 7 years of successful purchasing experience related to manufacturing, raw materials, or interiors for automotives
