Casting – World Class Manufacturing Coordinator

Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies
Follow and comply with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the employee Environmental Health and Safety programs.
Operate in a manner with levels of high confidentiality in regards Business and Financial matters
Driving World Class Manufacturing initiatives cross functionally to meet targets
Driving Continuous Improvement System with cross functional team support
Implementing and driving a Lean Manufacturing system
Implementation and ongoing improvement of a sustainable Lean Operating System at the manufacturing site
Applying Mentor – Mentee principals
Develop and deliver Lean training at all levels of the organization ensuring Lean knowledge is kept standard, current, and ongoing for all team members.
Know and understand Safety, Quality and Environmental policies.
Follows and supports and operating principles, including:
Abide by policies and procedures as described in the most current version of the Team Member Handbook.
Open Door Policy – Solves issues with two-way, open and friendly communication.
Safety First – Obey the plant’s safety rules and procedures by wearing PPE at all times and immediately addressing all safety concerns. Promotes an environment where zero injuries are the expected standard.
Attend and participate in Team, Department, Plant-wide and any other meetings as required.
Conduct all activities in a professional manner and positive attitude with an emphasis on personal responsibility.
Assist to achieve cost saving goals in alignment with business plan.
Coordinate process improvements for existing operations.
Encourage team member participation and assist with recognition of achievements
Record and monitor results of process improvement effects on efficiency, scrap, and other indicators
Assist in development and implementation of work standardization techniques
Participate in plant layout review for optimum efficiency and reduction of waste
Support Engineering and Quality personnel with new program development
Seek cost savings opportunities for workplace safety & ergonomic enhancements
Promote good housekeeping ( 5S )
Perform other duties as required

Must Haves

This position will partner with all plant leaders and team members to develop, implement and sustain LEAN manufacturing principles and continuous improvement programs to improve key performance metrics (SQTCM: Safety, Quality, Timing, Cost, Motivation).

Drive implementation, rigor and sustainment of Front Line Management system at assigned plant.
Be the plant subject matter expert, coach, and trainer of Front Line Management and Continuous Improvement tools, i.e. Plan/Do/Check/Act (PDCA), 5 Why, 5S, etc.
Lead smaller-scale projects to improve operator standard work (visual controls, time studies, improved gauges, etc.)
Lead larger-scale projects to improve overall process flow and reduce lead time in the plant.
Lead Kaizen events comprised of multi-functional team members. Is the “Champion” of Improvement activities and promotes/sells the benefit of these activities.
Be a key leader in the organization, participate in plant meetings (from high level strategy sessions down to daily walks).
Demonstrated ability to effect change in a manufacturing environment and ensure improvement activity is being communicated, understood, and supported within the organization.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups and deliver continuous improvement training.
High aptitude for problem solving and analytical thinking.
Highly organized, able to work with limited direct supervision, motivated to successfully meet deadlines, attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
Ability to manage the execution of complex projects.
Demonstrate the ability to build collaborative relationships and influence others.
Verbal and written communication skills; able to clearly articulate ideas and manage the change process.
Some of the physical demands of this position include

Office and General factory environment
Able to be flexible in hours of work on short notice in order to meet internal/external customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)
Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time, and occasional bending and stooping.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or equivalent

TECHNICAL TRAINING:

Six Sigma training and knowledge
Training in Lean Manufacturing Principles and Kaizen Facilitation preferred.

OTHER:

3-5 years’ experience in continuous improvement role
5-8 years’ relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment
Excellent PC skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required.

Operational and lean manufacturing management experience
Proven leadership record in different positions including P&L responsibility, expertise in work tickets, familiarity with outsourcing and insourcing, accounting structures, mechanical engineering education
Lean toolkit application skills (value stream mapping, 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, Error proofing, SMED, team problem solving, etc.)
Knowledge of internal manufacturing and major business processes
Multi-functional experience/Broad perspective
