Top Gun is now hiring for an experienced Engineering Manager for a great company near the Scottsville, KY area. The Automotive Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and managing the engineering department in an automotive manufacturing facility. This role involves overseeing all engineering activities related to process improvement, new product development, production optimization, and cost reduction. The Engineering Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient operations, adherence to quality standards, and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.

Pay: 110K+ DOE

 

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
  • Set departmental goals and objectives in alignment with the overall business strategy.
  • Coordinate resource allocation and workload distribution within the engineering department.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging creativity and continuous learning.

Process Improvement and Optimization:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement in manufacturing operations.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and implementing corrective actions as needed.

New Product Development and Launch:

  • Collaborate with product development teams to ensure successful launch of new automotive products.
  • Provide engineering expertise and support during the design, prototyping, and testing phases.
  • Establish manufacturing processes and systems for new products, ensuring efficiency and quality.
  • Coordinate with other departments to meet project timelines and deliverables.

Manufacturing Engineering Support:

  • Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing teams, addressing engineering-related issues.
  • Work closely with production managers to optimize production lines, improve cycle times, and resolve technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and quality control teams to implement engineering solutions and address equipment or process-related issues.
  • Support root cause analysis and problem-solving activities related to manufacturing and quality issues.

Capital Expenditure Planning and Project Management:

  • Develop capital expenditure plans and proposals to support facility upgrades, process automation, and equipment investments.
  • Lead or participate in engineering-related projects, managing project timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to ensure successful project execution.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with quality control teams to establish and maintain quality standards for manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in audits and inspections, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement in quality assurance processes.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate documentation of engineering activities, including project plans, technical specifications, and reports.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations to communicate engineering-related updates, progress, and KPIs to management.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Industrial, or Automotive Engineering.
  • Previous experience in automotive manufacturing engineering or a similar role, with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems in the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and process improvement tools.
  • Experience with new product development and launch processes.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and quality management systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software and tools for design, analysis, and project management.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and engineering drawings.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and project requirements
