Industrial Automation Engineer

Top Gun Staffing is working with a manufacturer in the area to fill a fulltime Direct Hire Automation Engineering position.

 

 

Job Description ROLE DESCRIPTION

 

 

The Automation Engineer will serve under the newly established

 

 

The automation engineer will report to the Director and will be responsible for developing and deploying automation technologies/solutions that will help the business achieve its operational objectives related to safety, quality, waste, and operational efficiency across all network of facilities. This motivated individual will plan and work through the technology/project life cycle which includes investigations, POC, pilots, RFQs, implementation, and sustainability. An understanding and experience in integrating core technologies such as industrial robotics, AGVs, AMRs, AS/RS, and Vision System is preferred.

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Aligns with and actively supports Amcor values by putting safety first in any situation . Serves as a role model to others by ensuring that all project work is completed in accordance with our safety policies.

  • Participates/collaborates with Project Teams to develop and implement end-to-end solutions for integrating automation on a plant/assembly line level.

  • Identify technical use cases for automation solutions that can provide a competitive advantage to the business. Is responsible for the scope development, technical design of integrated solution, risk identification/mitigation, and business use case of a solution.

  • Provides full range of project management support including schedule, budget control and stakeholder communications with minimal guidance. Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies when appropriate.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional project teams to identify system requirements and compiles specifications to enable automation solutions.

  • Develops/proposes automation concepts designs, identifies technical risks, executes proof-of-concepts to reduce risks, identifies external partners based on capabilities, collaborates with integrators through the Request for Quote (RFQ) stage, executes implementation projects, and supports Amcor’s plants through the sustainability and maintainability process.

  • Partners with the Advance Manufacturing Core Industrial Engineering team to develop plant transformation plans for brownfield and greenfield sites.

 

COMPETENCIES

 

  • Core attributes: Technical knowledge in a few of the following: Rockwell Hardware/Software products, Inductive Automation Ignition, Visual Components, RIA Safety Standards, Fanuc Robotics Hardware/Software, Cognex/Keyence Hardware/Software, AGV/AMRs, Networking, AS/RS, HMI Development, and System Integration.

  • Programming experience in Fanuc Robotics, Cognex/Keyence Vision Systems ,and scripting languages is a plus.

  • Technical Expertise: contributes to the design, development and implementation of technical solutions to new or highly complex problems that cannot be solved using existing methods. Uses a forward-looking approach when analyzing and implementing technical solutions.

  • Project Management: Effective team contributor; provides appropriate feedback and helps motivate team members to work toward common goals. Ability to recognize and respond proactively to project challenges and draws upon appropriate resources from other functional areas as needed to mitigate risk.

  • Communication: Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills when engaging with customers, suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Ability to prepare and deliver engineering presentations to a variety of audiences.

  • Collaboration: Actively engages in problem solving and creative thinking process. Inherent responsibility to train and mentor peers when appropriate.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • A bachelors degree in engineering – Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Robotics, Systems Engineering or related technical field.

  • 3+ years of experience working within a few of the following areas: Robotics, PLCs, AGVs/AMRs, IoT, IP Networking, Automation, Machine Learning and AI.

  • RIA Robotic Safety Training, Fanuc Education Certification, Keyence/Cognex experience is a plus.
